You'll all have chins.
Heyyyy guys
.
Just checking in! Um, it was a busy semester. As always. Excuses. But I've graduated with a degree in English Literature and a Music Business minor! The possibilities are endless. I'll have more time to make and play music, and eventually maybe this website will stop being little more than a placeholder. Happy Holidays everybody.

Mine,
Doug

Your proximity was clouding my account of what was real here.
Oh my gosh.
I haven't updated in such a long time. Busy busy busy. Cities Over Seas released our first LP, National Phantom. It's available from CD Baby, iTunes, and elsewhere. You can listen real quickly at our MySpace. I'm home for the summer and miss my bandmates.

I recorded a quick track with Son of Adam a.k.a. David. If you haven't heard of him, he's fantastic. He wrote a beautiful song called "Yes, Yes" and asked me to sing the harmonies; I jumped at the opportunity. Possibly literally.

I'll do my best to keep things fresh and new. Dreamweaver is always just a double-click away.

I'm almost 22 years old,
Doug

Tell me what you want me to think.
Friends!
The thing about winter is it gets darker earlier, and lighter later. Once between semesters, my body's clock slowly ticked out of alignment; I was without a job or any other sort of responsibility. By the middle of January, I was falling asleep at 8 in the morning and waking up at about 3 in the afternoon. I managed the transition back to school by staying awake for about 36 hours straight.

I have a side project! Just like David Bazan and the the guy from Dntel! The band is named Cities Over Seas. If you'd like to listen to some of the songs, we have a couple pages.

I have several shows coming up in the spring, mainly in the Potsdam area. But I'll keep you posted about everything.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, etc.
Doug

One, two, three, four.
It's almost fall, and I've got a couple things in the works. I'll be playing around town a couple times in the next few weeks, check the live page for more information.

A couple of my friends have been doing really exciting things lately; check out Alison Chiasson's MySpace for a brand new song, with more to come, hopefully. Also my friend The Tourist has released a fantastic album... an album worth paying for! You'd be remiss if you didn't get your hands on it as soon as possible.

Don't be a stranger,
Doug

I've got to make right with you, Lord knows I do.
Three months later... I'm still kicking. I've got shows coming up in the Potsdam area, and I'll be holing up here for the summer as well. If you, or anyone you know, would like to plan a show with me anywhere in the Syracuse/Watertown/Potsdam/Rochester/Ithaca area, let me know.

I haven't been recording much, but I'll offer up a demo for now. This one's called Fair Warning.

Come see me at The Fields on Thursday night (7-9), Knowles Quad Sunday afternoon (12:30-1:15,) Dexter's Sunday night (sometime,) and whenever else. Please!

See you then,
Doog

Finish what you started here.
Happy New Year! I've relocated to Potsdam for a winter class (French,) and I'm doing fairly well. I have several resolutions, and a lot of them involve music. So, you can possibly expect big things in the coming months, if everything goes according to plan.

That's it for now, I hope you had a great holiday.

Your friend,
Doug

At least, I'd like to be.
I played a show today and some folks from Geneseo's TV station were filming it, and are going to edit it, and will then play it several times next semester on the campus station! (Hopefully they will edit out all of my mistakes, a.k.a. my cover of "Only In Dreams" in which I forgot all the words.) I also may procure said tape at some point, and then might upload bits of it, but that will be in the future.

So keep in touch, I might be playing shows in the Syracuse area soon, so yes. Send me a message sometime. I get lonely.

A bien tot,
Doug

A series of hilarious mistakes leading to some sort of non-mistake.
Big week! I have several shows in the Geneseo area, starting tonight and on until Thursday. Sorry about the late notice, but I just recently found out about them myself. Check out all the specific dates here. Please come! Maybe you'll meet somebody nice.

Sincerely,
Doug

My parents own an RV.
Hey all. There's a new demo up on MySpace. It's rough, the voice track clips a little, etc. Anyway, the song is called Okay, Okay, okay? Be my friend!

I'm playing in a telethon somehow related to horses tomorrow. Wish me luck. Maybe come out.

Thanks,
Doug

Well, it is the windy city.
It's been (literally,) a month of Sundays since I posted, but.. no news is good news. I headlined a show in Syracuse last night, I'm playing on the Geneseo campus tomorrow, things are good, I'm keeping busy....ish. I'm always lookin' to book shows, so send me an e-mail if you'll have me.

I'll see you around,
Doug

I forgot I needed it.
Tired. I'm tired. So I'll make this quick.

Today's update deals with sight and sound. I've posted my most recent demo, entitled "Where Were We?", as well as several pictures from my most recent gig here on the SUNY Geneseo campus. It feels narcissistic, but I like how the lighting makes my guitar look. So go, go on, go.

Me me me,
Me

P.S.
I've been listening to The Thermals recently. *shrug*

Two wrongs make a right. It's a double negative.
Hey campers, good news! Twice! The first good news is that the tentatively scheduled Potsdam date is a go. It's official. I think it's even written down on paper somewhere. The second piece of good news is a last-minute, surprise performance here at SUNY Geneseo's MacVittie Student Union. I'll be playing at 10:30 this coming Saturday, the 16th. Please come! Bring your friends! Bring your enemies! All the details regarding these performances can be found, free of charge, on the Live page.

One quick aside. There's a song called "Yours to Keep" by a band formerly named Teddybears Stockholm, now called, simply, "Teddybears." This is the only song I had ever heard from this band, through a friend, and I forgot about it after a summer of new music. But recently, this song has been getting all sorts of attention paid to it. Teddybears are releasing a new cd with the same song sung by a different singer, and there also exists a remix by Annie. It's a catchy song, so I guess it warrants the attention, but still, it seems like overkill. You can read an article about it here. My favorite version is the original featuring Paola, but the version featuring Neneh Cherry is nice too.

¡Doug!

In order to prove you completely wrong.
Just a couple minor things. Firstly, I've added a couple of friends to my list-of-friends. Friendly types, all. I feel bad for omitting them in the first place, but nobody's perfect. Secondofly, I've made available a new recording on the audio/visual page. It's only a cover, but it's guest starring The Tourist, a talented up-and-comer from the South.

I'll keep you posted as far as upcoming concert dates, recordings, etcetera become available.

Yrs,
Doug

The gilded age.
I live near Rochester, NY now. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, Rochester falls somewhere between Syracuse and Niagara Falls. I guess if anything warrants a new site design, this move Westward is it. I haven't posted in some time, but now, I'm back! For good, I hope.

I have several shows coming up in Potsdam, Syracuse, and the Rochester area. Some dates are tentative, so keep checking the dates page, or my MySpace account, as the details become less hazy. It'd be great to see old friends and make new ones, so I hope to see you there!

Lastly, this site is a work in progress, so if you find anything that's not up to par, please send me some sort of message and let me know.

Fare well,
Doug
